05 / Plan more than a sighting

Come for the lights.
Stay for the place.

Make the daylight hours count, leave room for the weather, and build a trip you’ll love whatever the sky decides.

First, choose your route north. Kiruna is one option. Compare Evenes near Narvik and Luleå, plus rail, buses and your final transfer. Explore ways to get here ↗

Where will your
Arctic days begin?

Your accommodation shapes your transport, dining and tour options. A dark location is useful, but no hotel can promise a clear sky or an aurora.

01 / KIRUNA

Town comforts. Guided nights.

Choose Kiruna for access to town services and a practical base for our Aurora Hunter. Confirm the specific pickup point before booking your accommodation.

02 / JUKKASJÄRVI

River village. Art & culture.

Choose Jukkasjärvi for ICEHOTEL and a visit to Sámi-run Nutti Sámi Siida. Plan transfers carefully: a village stay is a different experience from staying in town.

03 / ABISKO & BJÖRKLIDEN

Wake up in the mountains.

Choose a mountain base for scenery and access to the Abisko area. Before booking a Snowdog tour, ask us to confirm whether pickup or an agreed meeting point is available for your date.

A flexible idea / three nights

Build in wonder.
Leave room to change.

This is a suggested rhythm, not a bookable package. Activities depend on season and availability; move them around your arrival, energy and the weather.

01

Arrive, settle, look up.

Check in, get your bearings in daylight and have an early dinner. If arrival allows, book your first guided aurora evening early in the trip, leaving later nights for another opportunity.

02

Meet the place by daylight.

Visit ICEHOTEL or learn from Sámi hosts in Jukkasjärvi. Keep time to rest before your next evening. If the sky is clear, use our Tonight desk and local viewing advice.

03

A little adventure. Another sky.

Choose a seasonal Snowdog daytime experience or explore an established nature trail in suitable conditions. Leave your final evening flexible; several nights give you more opportunities, never a guarantee.

Notice the small things

Life beneath the lights.

Meet the animals and plants of the north, with honest sighting expectations.

Plan the connections, too. Check transport for your exact dates, allow time for winter disruption and arrange your late return. Do not assume a train, restaurant or hotel transfer runs after your tour. Read the driving advice.
